I have dabbled in writing short stories and other fiction in my spare time.
Closer to the Earth – a semi-autobiographical look at deployment to Iraq. I submitted the story to the Keene Prize for Literature in 2008.
Outliers – a short story, that expands upon a brief section mentioned in Closer to the Earth, detailing the night before getting deployed. Submitted in 2009 to the Austin Chronicle Short Story Competition.
The Same Still – a short story based on homelessness and the hidden causes behind it. Inspired by living on Riverside Drive in Austin, TX for the past three years. Submitted to the Keene Prize for Literature 2010.

Very good story. Gave me a lot of insight in what a soldier goes through on a daily basis.
